Monday, August 1, 2005: Leela made it home today a little before 5pm after almost four days in the hospital. Despite having a blood born bacteria infection, she had no symptoms after Thursday afternoon. However, tonight we are to be trained in administering intervenes antibiotics that she will need to receive every eight hours for another 12 days.

Leela is still scheduled to receive her last round of chemo on Thursday and Friday, August 4th and 5th. We had thought that we might go away somewhere for a few days late in the month after Leela’s immune system recovered and before school starts, but now after our experience this cycle we will probably just stay in-town until Leela’s catheter is removed. Then, maybe in September, we will be able to get away to the beach somewhere for a few days. (If anybody has a favorite beach rental that would work for a three or four night stay, let us know.)
