June 24th: Two weeks until the penultimate cycle of chemo.
|
Friday, June 24, 2005: Leela has weathered the fourth cycle of chemo extremely well. The only overt effect was a little fatigue the day after. She has now had two cycles where the side effects from the chemo were minimal and two where the side effects landed her in the hospital. Unfortunately it is not at all clear what is associated with these very different reactions. Leela will receive cycle number five out of six on July 7 and 8. Next week Leela has an appointment with the Ocularist where she will get a new prosthesis. Last Tuesday, the Ocularist fitted a wax model of the new prosthetic eye. The process involves lots of screaming as the prosthesis is taken out and reinserted. We have been assured that there is no pain involved, but it must be uncomfortable. During our appointment this Tuesday, the Ocularist will paint the new prosthesis. An hour later it will be ready to be inserted, and we can go home. |
