August 10th: The last cycle of chemo.
|
Wednesday, August 10th: Yesterday Leela received what we hope was her last cycle of chemo. The final treatment had been delayed a few days due to a weakened immune system. Monday morning her ANC was just high enough to start the treatment. The treatment was uneventful except of a little nausea yesterday morning. But it’s never the treatment that is the problem; it’s the aftermath that has been problematic. Now we wait to see whether this cycle is going to be like cycles 1 and 3, when she ended up in the hospital within a few days after treatment, or like cycles 2 and 4, when there were almost no discernable effects. It could be also like cycle 5, which started out like cycles 2 and 4 but ended up with an admission to the hospital when Leela got a bacterial infection in the third week after treatment. Whatever happens, she almost certainly will be able to start school four weeks from today. Then the next day, on September 8th, Leela is scheduled for an MRI. Assuming the MRI is clear, she will then be schedule for her catheter to be removed. |
