April 10th: A good week.

Sunday, April 10: Leela has been feeling great this past week. Except for Friday when she had a doctor’s appointment, she went to school every day this week. On Wednesday her class had a field trip to the zoo. According to Ms. Bernadette, Leela’s teacher, she ran from animal to animal to try to see as many the of the zoo’s residents as she could—dragging Ms. Bernadette along for the ride.

Leela took the loss of most of her hair this week in stride. She has a collection of hats to help with head coverage; a couple were hand knit by Laura, one of Maya’s teachers. (I have added to the site a photo of Leela in one of Laura’s contributions.) All I can say is that she has been a model of mental health over the issue.

Friday Leela got the first of her “new eyes”. Geetha and I had gotten quite comfortable with her “pink eye”. The new one will take a little getting used to for us. It will need some adjustments before it really looks right. Some of the adjustments will be made on Tuesday at her next appointment with the Ocularist; some of the adjustments will have to wait until the Ocularist is able to take a mold of her eye while Leela is under anesthesia for a detailed exam of the other eye. However, the important thing is that Leela is very happy with her new eye. Since we just finished a roll of film in our camera, it may take a couple of weeks before I get a photo of Leela with her new eye up on the web page. Check out the other new photos though.

Thursday and Friday this week Leela is schedule for her next course of chemo.
